Cheltenham, 15 February 2008: Tewkesbury MP Laurence Robertson will be visiting Mitton Manor Primary School on 15th February 2007. He will meet with school staff, see pupils engaged in a variety of activities and receive an update on Mitton Manor’s health 4 schools programme, supported by Kraft Foods.
Mr Robertson will be visiting the school's new cookery room to see children cooking. This initiative is a major outcome of the health 4 schools input to Mitton Manor. Every child now cooks regularly as a result. Students will also be participating in dance, a “wake and shake” exercise and other physical education activities during the visit. Children in each class also have a garden plot at the school and Mr Robertson will visit those. The cookery, garden plots and all of the activities enable students to learn about balanced eating and growing produce, along with the importance of being physically active.
Ahead of his visit, Mr Robertson commented: “I am very much looking forward to visiting Mitton Manor Primary School. The school is enthusiastically sponsoring many activities that can build strong minds and strong bodies in its students. health 4 schools is an excellent programme which is really helping to bring healthy habits to children in our local schools."
health 4 schools is an initiative to promote healthy diet and active play to school children in Gloucestershire. The programme is now in its fourth year, with 100 schools in Gloucestershire participating. Kraft's UK head office is in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
