E-Mail Scam Using Kraft Foods UK Name
E-Mail Scam Using Kraft Foods UK Name

January 14, 2010
– We have become aware of fraudulent messages being distributed through external e-mail and web sites suggesting that “Kraft Foods UK Limited” is seeking people to work as “receiving payments agents” or similar. Please be aware these messages are false –.they are not sponsored, supported or funded by Kraft Foods and the authors of the messages are not Kraft Foods employees. Kraft Foods never uses payment receiving agents and does not advertise jobs in this way.

The goal of the messages is to lure unsuspecting e-mail recipients into sending money to secure the position advertised (often referred to as “advance fee fraud”). Other scams may involve asking recipients to pay out on cheques (which subsequently prove to be counterfeit) before they have fully cleared. The messages take many forms and are sent from all around the world.  They may come from a recipient whose name appears as “Frederick Thomas”, but the name can change and sender email addresses also change continually. Email scams such as these are unfortunately very common.

Kraft Foods is working with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to try to put a stop to messages referencing Kraft Foods. In the meantime, if you or someone you know receives one of these messages, please assume it is a scam, do not respond and promptly delete the message.
